The stone
Close up and on the slab.
Compare broad areas of red with the density of white veining. Plan adjoining faces and returns together, then confirm the finish and care requirements for the intended use.

Softer than it looks
Marble is softer than granite or quartzite and reacts with acids: lemon, wine and some cleaners can dull a polished surface. It is at its best in bathrooms, furniture, fireplaces and walls.

Finish for the use
Polished brings out the colour; honed hides wear and etching better. On a kitchen top or a bar, choose honed and seal it.

Read the whole slab
Veining changes across a slab and from slab to slab. We send photographs of the actual slabs, and you choose where the strongest movement falls before cutting.
